WGOG 101.7 FM is a regional but locally-focused FM radio station that focuses on the Golden Corner of South Carolina-Oconee County and the Clemson-Pendleton areas of Anderson and Pickens Counties.

Known as “The Golden Corner’s Radio Station, “ 101.7 WGOG provides primary signal service to 181,966 persons in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. WGOG is the only full power community FM radio station in Oconee County.

In addition to mainstream Country music, WGOG maintains a full-time awarding winning local news department anchored by Oconee County’s dean of news reporters, Dick Mangrum. Programming

101.7 WGOG’s format is first and foremost focused on the local area. The music is Country with a traditional slant. From 6 a.m. until 10 a.m., WGOG airs the Golden Corner’s Morning Show which has been a listening tradition in the area since WGOG began operations with an AM signal in 1959. The program is the “community voice” for this prosperous area of South Carolina.

While this unique community service format is unlike any other station in the local area, it’s carefully researched to appeal to the largest segment of population in the WGOG coverage area. That’s why WGOG always tops the Arbitron radio ratings reports in Oconee County and has strong audience shares in neighboring Pickens and Anderson counties.

What really separates WGOG from other radio stations in the area is the local news, sports, weather and community information. Local news updates are heard throughout the broadcast day and bulletins when news occurs. This local coverage is complemented by top-of-the-hour ABC Radio News.

An hourly Community Calendar feature updates local listeners on events in the immediate area. Coverage Area

The 101.7 WGOG(FM) transmitter and 500 foot tall tower are located on a high ridge near Tamassee, South Carolina. The site was chosen for its high elevation of 1500 feet above sea level; some 500 feet higher than the primary cities in WGOG’s service area-Walhalla, Seneca, Westminster and Clemson. This location provides an extra boost to the WGOG signal across the Golden Corner.

The station’s 6,000-watt crystal-clear FM stereo signal operates at full power 24 hours daily. In addition to the Golden Corner, the station’s primary signal reaches into western North Carolina and northeast Georgia providing WGOG advertisers bonus coverage across the three state region.
